Heat Pumps
Heat pump is a device which moves heat from one location known as source to another location known as sink. Work is used in its operation. Mostly, heat moves from a low temperature heart source to a high temperature heat sink. The common examples of heat pumps are food refrigerators and freezers, air conditioners, water chillers and stirling cryocooler.Heat pumps work as heat engines operating in reverse. Work is required to transfer heat from a colder location to a hotter area. Therefore, a heat pump requires work to move thermal energy from a cold source to a hot sink.
Heat pumps are used to heat or preheat water for swimming pools or domestic water heaters.
The performance of a heat pump or coefficient of performance of a heat pump COPs have increased than before. Heat pumps residential efficiency has greatly enhanced. Heat pumps are now becoming popular choices both for home heating and cooling. The way of working of heat pumps make them more efficient. Without burning a flame and using expensive fuels, heat pumps maintain moves heat both in summer and winter. In winter, it extracts heat from the outside air and transfers it in your house. During the summer, this process reverses.
There are basically two kinds i.e. air sourced and ground sourced. Ground sourced heat pumps are more effective then air sourced. The ground sourced heat pumps like geothermal heat pumps have high COPs than the air sourced heat pumps. The prices of geothermal heat pumps vary in range.
Either of these two common types of heat pumps can be used for heating and cooling. An air-source heat pump pulls heat indoors from the outdoor air in winter and from the indoor air in the summer. A ground-source heat pump extracts heat from the indoor air when it is hot outside. It draws heat from the ground into a home, when it is cold outside maintaining an almost constant temperature.
Carrier heat pumps offer energy use options as well as extra heating options. Carrier heat pumps are central air conditioners that can also heat your whole home. A water source heat pump is a self-contained water-cooled packaged heating and cooling unit. Its components include A tube-in-tube heat exchanger, a heating-cooling coil, a fan, a compressor, a reversing valve and controls enclosed in a common casing.
Ductless heat pumps provide highly efficient energy system for any home. Ductless mini-split heat pumps provide a unique solution for bringing central air conditioning into homes. These ductless mini-split heat pumps do not require ductwork for central air conditioning. As, the refrigerant lines take less space than the typical ducts. So, less effort is required in their installation in a retrofit. Ductless mini-split heat pumps are usually installed for cooling.
Trane heat pumps and Goodman heat pumps are popular heat pumps Florida heat pumps are also famous. There is a great variety of Florida heat pumps which are efficient ijn performance and energy saving.
